The movement you have described here just reinforces the idea that white people are superior to anyone else. Project 2025 shows just how far they will go. Using the guise of “Religious Freedom” these clowns continue to execute their mission which has been going on for quite a while. Do not for one minute think that the election of a minority person as president means racism is dead. Racism is linked with white supremacy, white nationalism and extreme ignorance. We need to stay vigilant as these people have infiltrated all levels of government.

This is the first for me as far as education of the clan. I thank you for a very well written post. The quotes of Martin Luther King moved me Seventy years I have watched people oppose just not the blacks but several different groups From this day forth my silence will no longer be silent

Ok. Let me catch my breath for a minute. First, I admire your work Mr. Spivey. It's a shame it will never be shared with those in most need. But they are a lost cause anyway. Second, I was going to say that your article is a hard read. And then I realized I'm whining about a hard read when people actually lived this Hell, and continue to do so. I have a friend from Zimbabwe. It worries me what will happen (win or lose) after the election. I'm in the North but I still feel a white woman and black man, in a car, or in public will not be safe. And it's 2024.

Curious on your perspective on people of color who join such organizations or even the Republican MAGA cult party - which is inherently racist/tribal? It boggles my mind.

In most cases I see them as following the path of least resistance in a reach for money and power. I think most are unsuccessful in that regard but they can instantly stand out as a Black supporter when the same level of appreciation within the Democratic Party might never come. I see them as having literally sold out. I'm not talking about conservatives who I see as disappearing (or hiding) within the Republican Party. Many Black people have some conservative ideas.

Powerful article - especially with MLK quotes. You state simple facts in a context that hits. I have read many of your articles (initially found you on Medium but suspect I've read your work in other publications) and you always make me think and rethink deeply about myself and my own experiences. I'm reminded of my friend from 30 some odd years ago who, in regards to ignorance, told me "It's all right, you didn't know. But now you know better and you have to be better". Thank you.

personal experience 2018-2020 regarding Three Percenter Militia member who was my neighbor, an Afghan war trained usa army infiltrator tried at first to get inside my thinking. when i didn’t succumb, he dissed against me, including against my surname, verbal attacks about Mexicans, then Asians. Sheriff sent me for Court Order of Protection. several violations and some sheriff deputies were helpful and some lied to protect him. the Court Order was legally limited two years. to keep my life I fled my home, friends and community. my wisdom that i had rights, disregarded; that i could stand up for myself, untrue. even as i could Not stand and be shot, please grace for those who are legitimately terrified, if possible help those who maybe in need.

Thank you for this post. And the Martin Luther King Jr. quotes: "Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity." Powerful.

I want to add that IMO, christian nationalism is not necessarily all white people. I live in Mississippi & there are POC here that have so much generational trauma, they cannot see the bigger picture. These are folks who are so poor they have never, or rarely, left their own city let alone the state.

Our city has a confederate statue, yet our city surrendered immediately during the war- not one person died here. It’s all so absurd.

Thank you for this history.

Thank heavens they got rid of the pointy hats. From a fashion standpoint those were incredibly unflattering.

And it was confusing back in the day, didn’t know if you were being chased by a racist or a ghost……

Honestly, I’d prefer being chased by a ghost.
