As a friend of mine pointed out during the NFL protests against racism a few years ago - the country is so racist that the people protesting racism are accused of being un-American.
"Nothing much counts anymore", but what does count is more important than ever. Good writing. Ideas. Persistence. Good health. Love. Affection. Kids. Grand-kids. Dogs. As I type the list keeps growing. And the truth. The truth still counts, and talking about racism (and history) is talking the truth. The rich want to isolate themselves from their labor force and keep the "suckers and losers" out back. Sound familiar?
If you follow the gospel according to Woke, everything is racism. If you follow the gospel according to Trump, nothing is.(unless it hurts some white people)
Very nice. I think there were strains of censoriousness in recent cultural moments, that worked against rather than for an authentic engagement with the realities of history. The Black Wall Streets are everywhere in America. No matter where you live, there is near you a record of Native removal/ genocide and of terror against Black communities. But becoming aware of the specifics is not easy logistically nor psychologically. Racism has a real grip to it that can’t be shouted away. It is only slowly purged with effort and intentionality in human relations.

I think it’s important to have clear language and definitions of these Power Terms.
“Racism” is NOT pointing at racist acts.
NOT complaints about racist acts and structures.
NOT positive affirmations about Black people.
“Racism” IS an act of violence or control of a person or group by one(s) who have racial privilege and/or state allowed power.
(An oppressed person or group cannot exercise racism.)
“Racism” IS the act of restricting the rights and free movement of oppressed people by those who have the power to do so.
Bigotry, racism, prejudice all have the same smell, and deemed "politically correct" no matter which state you live in.🙄
