I’ve previously made lists of suggested readings, many of which were historically significant and often fiction. Someone recently asked what they should be reading to get a more accurate view of American history, especially concerning Black history.

History is a journey and much more than a compilation of facts. I am learning constantly, and without a comprehensive view of history, perspective is impossible. It’s essential to know how facts relate to each other. The ten books listed below are a starting point. Hopefully, you’ll question what you read and do more research on your own, trust but verify.
