FIU became a staging ground for organized student response to the federal raid that removed Elián from his relatives’ home in Little Havana. The activism was led primarily by:

The Cuban American Student Association (CASA)

Students from Nicaragua, Honduras, and other Latin American countries

FIU’s student newspaper, The Beacon, which covered the campus reaction

These students framed the raid not only as a Cuban‑American issue but as a broader question of government power, privacy, and immigrant rights.

The christian nationalist Project 2025 annihilates Hispanic people. The fact that human groups will always try to find the “other” is amazing. And for some reason they just never figure out who their real enemies are. FIU appears to be a dangerous place for supposed higher learning.
